What an unforgettable week in White Rock! From the soaring notes of “Bohemian Rhapsody” echoing over East Beach to rainbow flags waving proudly from every corner of our city, White Rock Pride Week 2025 was a joyful, vibrant celebration of love, inclusion, and community spirit.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who came out to support, celebrate, perform, volunteer, and simply be present for what turned out to be one of the most heartwarming Pride Weeks yet.
Simply Queen Shines Bright on East Beach
Our unofficial Pride Week warm-up rocked the shoreline as over 10,000 attendees gathered for Simply Queen as part of the Concerts at the Pier series presented by TD Game Ready. Paddleboarders floated offshore, crowds filled the beach, and Queen’s greatest hits had everyone dancing under the summer sky.
A huge shoutout to White Rock BIA for organizing this spectacular event and to Rob Christensen for delivering a rousing kick-off speech that set the tone for a magical week.
Raising the Flag, Raising Our Voices
The week officially began with the Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at White Rock City Hall. Over 50 community members gathered to witness powerful speeches from Mayor Knight, Rob Christensen (President, White Rock Pride Society), and Johnny D Trinh — a renowned artist and leader in Vancouver’s creative community. Johnny’s spoken word performance moved hearts and reminded us all of the strength found in diversity. Read Johnny’s powerful poem here.
The Pride flag rose to a chorus of applause and cheers — a moment of unity that launched an unforgettable week.
Pride Ride and After Party: A Rolling Rainbow
Following the ceremony, over 30 vehicles decked out in Pride décor took to the streets for the Pride Ride, winding through White Rock’s iconic spots like Marine Drive and the Rainbow Sidewalk at Five Corners.
Supporters lined the sidewalks, waving and cheering, turning the ride into a rolling party. The celebration continued at the Pride Ride After Party at the Peace Arch Curling Club, where the energy stayed high and spirits soared.
Pride Family Day: Love, Laughter & Live Music
Pride Family Day was bursting with joy! Hosted by the ever-energetic Rob Christensen and Adera Angelucci, the event featured show-stopping performances by Carrie Dawn, dazzling magic from Norden the Magician, and a bustling vendor market at Miramar Plaza.
Thank you to the incredible vendors and artisans who attended the event and brought incredible energy with them!
Families danced, laughed, and celebrated what Pride is all about — love, acceptance, and togetherness.
Pride Mingler: Building Bridges, One Brew at a Time
Hosted by the White Rock BIA, the Pride Mingler brought together over 70 local business owners and allies at White Rock Beach Beer Company for a relaxed, welcoming evening of connection.
With delicious craft beer in hand and street eats by Primo’s Mexican Grill, the event fostered genuine conversations and new friendships across the community.
Love is Love Gala: A Night to Remember
We wrapped up the week in truly fabulous fashion at the Love is Love Gala at Hazelmere Golf & Country Club. With 200+ guests, a flurry of show-stopping Wizard of Oz themed costumes, and non-stop celebration, the evening was a true highlight.
Congratulations to John Dery for taking home the Best Costume award as the Flying Monkey, and thank you to all who bid generously in the live and silent auctions.
White Rock Business Pride Storefront Winners
A huge thank you to all the incredible businesses who showed their Pride loud and proud. Judging was based on theme, creativity, and street visibility — and you did not make it easy!
First Prize: Ashberry & Logan Floral Designers, The Art of Flowers
Their stunning display featured a vibrant lineup of rainbow-coloured watering cans and a cascading spectrum of colour, complete with a bold balloon arch in the inclusive Pride flag design. Beautiful and heartfelt!
Second Prize: EDGE – Fashion on the Edge
Bringing the “Love is Love” message to life with rainbow banners and a show-stopping dress made from scarves. Truly fashion-forward and full of Pride!
Third Prize: The Shop Next Door
A creative and subtle take with rainbow-hued t-shirts and a jaw-dropping pair of sky-high rainbow heels — still waiting to be scooped up for your next Pride look! 
Honourable Mentions go to Hilltop Plumbing and White Rock Beach Beer Company for their bold and colourful displays that caught every passerby’s eye.
A big round of applause to our volunteer judges and contest organizers, and heartfelt thanks to the White Rock BIA and the amazing support from our small business community.
Looking Ahead to 2026
From the flag raising to the final dance, White Rock Pride Week 2025 reminded us of the power of visibility, joy, and love. We’re so grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, performers, businesses, and YOU — the community — for making it all happen.
We’ll be taking a short break to catch our breath (and maybe our confetti), and then it’s full steam ahead to White Rock Pride Week 2026!
