Join the White Rock Pride Society for another peaceful and refreshing Rainbow Walk this time through the serene beauty of Redwood Park. This gentle 30-minute walk is an opportunity to unwind in nature with friends, allies and members of the local 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Following the walk, the White Rock Pride Society will provide light refreshments and snacks in a relaxed picnic-style gathering.
Whether you’re looking to meet new friends, enjoy a quiet moment outdoors, or simply be part of our vibrant 2SLGBTQ+ community, this event is for you.
All are welcome, no registration is required but we would appreciate if you could RSVP to our Facebook event to help us reach more people.
Please note, parking is available on-site but may be busy if it is a sunny day.
National Indigenous People’s Day June 21st
Our Rainbow Walk was originally scheduled for Saturday June 21st, but we have moved our date in honour of National Indigenous People’s Day on June 21st during which two important events will be taking place that we will be attending.
On June 21st from 11 am to 12 pm join Semiahmoo First Nation Chief Harley Chappell as he shares the oral history of “P’Quals”, the iconic White Rock. The event will take place at P’Quals, located east of the Pier on White Rock’s east beach. This is a free community event, everyone is welcome.
Later that day from 2:00 pm to 7:00pm, there is a larger celebration for National Indigenous People’s Day planned at Bill Reid Millenium Amphitheatre located at 17728-64 Avenue in Surrey. Learn more here.
About Redwood Park
Redwood Park is a hidden gem in South Surrey and home to the largest stand of Redwood trees north of California . Filled with a variety of exotic trees including the Sierra Redwoods, the tallest tree species in the world, Redwood Park is the legacy of one of Surrey’s earliest pioneering families.
Twin brothers, Davide and Peter Brown were gifted the large plot of land from their father in 1893 and rather then log or farm the land they filled it with their favourite trees from all around the world. The two lived in a treehouse in the heart of their forest sanctuary until their deaths in 1949 and 1958.
With over 5km of peaceful scenic trails Redwood Park feels like a true escape from the city.
